It’s no secret that it can be hard to get noticed at tradeshows. Every vendor is vying for attention, so standing out is crucial. We can help you make your tradeshow display an attention getter, whatever your goals are.

Reflect Your Brand

While it can be tempting to focus your display design on grabbing people’s attention, it’s also important to make sure your display stays true to your brand. Keeping things like colours, messaging, and graphics on-brand will help people remember you and help you get recognized in the future.

Use Easy to Read Font

Nothing will turn people away from your booth faster than a font that is impossible to read. You need to make it as easy as possible for people to read your message quickly in a crowded environment. This means choosing a font that can be read easily from a distance because chances are people won’t take a second look.

Use Blank Space to Your Advantage

Most designers recommend around 40% blank space, as using blank space effectively will not only help your message stand out, it will also make any writing easier to read.

A display crowded with text will make it difficult for the reader to choose what to read, assuming they make the effort to decipher the text at all. It also makes the text more difficult to read from a distance, something that will keep people from coming to your booth.

Choose Your Words Wisely

You only have 3 seconds to get someone’s attention at a tradeshow, which means you need to make your point with 6 words or less. Focus on the most important piece of information you want people to know and make those 3 seconds count.

Pick your main message that you want attendees to take away from your display and make sure it is featured prominently.

Use Bright Colours Sparingly

It might seem counterintuitive, but too many bright colours can actually be a deterrent. A good rule is to use a maximum of three colours. Any more and your display can start to look busy and overwhelming.

The more colours used means more that could take away from your main message, so make sure that your message is always the focus.

Trade Show Displays

Include Interactive Elements

Incorporate a tangible part of your business into your display. Having something people can interact with grabs their attention and makes a lasting impression. If you can have a product or display unit people can actually touch, they will be more inclined to visit your booth and remember your message.

Use Audio-Visual Elements

If a picture is worth a 1000 words, then a video is worth at least 10 times that.

In a crowded convention centre, video can help you stand out from other vendors who are just using photos or no media at all.

Audio elements can help you stand out further and immerse attendees in your display and messaging, just remember to keep the volume at a reasonable level.

Invest in Additional Lighting

It can be difficult to know where exactly you’ll be, which displays you’ll be next to, and what the lighting will be like until you arrive at the tradeshow. It’s best to come prepared with additional lighting to help your display stand out as more legible and visible.
